Budget cuts continue; Loudon County School Board struggles with additional reductions
The Loudon County Board of Education met Monday night in a grim session to attempt to trim $3.4-million from the proposed 2008-09 school budget. It was standing-room-only at the County Office Building as teachers in the system showed their concern about what — including their planned pay raises — may be on the chopping block.

LCHS teacher quits; Involvement with student is alleged
Lenoir City High School teacher Rachael Burkhart, 25, resigned from her position after school administrators alleged she was involved in a romantic relationship with an 18-year-old senior student at the school, officials said Tuesday.

  Boat controversy leads to court action for park
The Taste of Loudon County on Sunday at Lenoir City Park was well attended, Lenoir City Parks and Recreation Director Steve Harrelson said, but not without controversy. Harrelson was told to keep out of Lenoir City Park over the weekend due to a restraining order filed by Shadrack Water Sports of Knoxville to keep him and Lenoir City employees from interfering with Shadrack’s boat show May 2 to May 4.
