The Rev. Henry Michael Johnson, 67, of Loudon, passed away Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009.
Michael sang for 25 years with such groups as the "Supernals", "The Pilgrims" and "The Johnson Family." He announced his calling into the ministry in 1968 at Bell Avenue Baptist Church. Over the years, he has pastored Shady Grove Baptist Church, Lighthouse Church, Freedom House of Worship and was still active as their assistant pastor at his death. Michael has made many special friends through the years which have come to know and love him through ministry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Johnson and Fannie Tuck Johnson; his brothers, William D. (Dub) Johnson and Arthur Ronald Johnson; and by his sister, Thelma Johnson Lamb.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Hazel Marie Johnson; his children, Michelle Chamberlain and husband, Terry of Ardmore, Okla., Anthony Johnson and wife, Deanna of Silverdale, Wash., Renee' Garner and husband, Rev. Lewis "Charlie Brown" Garner of Loudon, Gretchen Elytha Johnson of Rising Sun, Md., Kim Borneby and husband, Hans, Tammy Ridings and husband, Jeremy and by Timmy Crawley, all of Loudon; 20 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; eight nieces and nephews; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Lula Bell and George Moses of Sweetwater and Imogene Malone of Loudon; and by his special and loving family pet, Andy.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. with the Rev. George Seay and the Rev. Clarence Russell officiating. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. Sunday and proceed to Corinth Cemetery in Loudon for 2 p.m. graveside services and interment. Serving as pallbearers: Isaac Garner, Casey Reynolds, Lucas Garner, Jeremy Ridings, Timmy Crawley, Michael Lewis, Charlie McMahon, William Addison, Brent Ross and Jerry Russell.
