Dennis C. Shanahan, 59, of Lenoir City, passed away at his home Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009.
He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and a retired private investigator. He served in the U.S. Navy and attended the United States Naval Academy. Dennis was an entrepreneur, a jack of all trades and a family man.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Whitney; and by his parents, Dennis W. and Bettye Shanahan.

Dennis is survived by his wife of 30 years, Edie Livingstone Shanahan; his children, Debbie Shanahan, Michael Shanahan and wife, Amy, D.C. Shanahan and wife, Chelsea and Christopher Shanahan; his stepsons, Richard Tighe and wife, Hermila and Keith Tighe; his grandchildren, Gabriel Shanahan, Ricky and Victoria Tighe and Danielle, Kristen, Jenna and Hailey Tighe; his sisters, Megan Morehead and husband, Bill, Karen Renk and husband, Tom and Michaela Shanahan; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Click Funeral Home in Lenoir City. A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Lenoir City with Father Tom Moser and Deacon Jose Rivera officiating.
