A five-run third inning clinched Loudon's 8-3 win Friday night at home over Unicoi County.
After Matthew Wallace and Joey Schultz led off with a walk and a double, Dain McNabb doubled to the fence in left, scoring Wallace and Schultz. McNabb then came across on a bad throw on a Brandon Wright grounder, putting Loudon ahead 3-0. Gabe Hampton then reached on an error and then Logan Norman singled in Wright. Eric Newman finished the scoring with an RBI single as Hampton crossed the plate.
The Redskins added a couple more in the fourth when a roller by Jordan Purdy got by a Unicoi defender to score McNabb and Schultz.
Unicoi posted a pair of runs in the top of the fifth, but Wallace scored in the bottom half to seal the final tally. The win was the second for the Redskins in the Loudon Invitational, as they defeated Wartburg 11-1 Wednesday.
