The Loudon Redskins (6-2, 2-2) will look to continue their winning streak Friday night when they travel to face the struggling Sequoyah Chiefs. It will be the final road game of the regular for the Redskins.
The Chiefs (0-8) have been shut out six times this season, scoring just 21 points in eight games. The Chiefs run a Wing-T offense and are now led by Trey Dyer at quarterback.
Sequoyah will run through a number of tailbacks throughout the game, including Blake Huffman, Brandon Zitch, Shea Owen, Joe Hall and Cody Stewart. Quarterback Kince Rodgers has also seen time under center for former Greenback Head Coach and current Sequoyah head man Bill Satterfield. The Chiefs have been rebuilding in the second year under Satterfield, as they've fallen to Scott County 15-0, Tellico Plains 19-13, Meigs County 7-0, Lenoir City 28-0, CAK 41-0, McMinn Central 22-8, Signal Mountain 48-0 and Polk County 31-0 so far this season.
They haven't scored a point since Oct. 2.
The Redskins must continue winning to have a shot at a wild card berth in the playoffs this season. They dropped contests to Alcoa and CAK, both District 4(2A) rivals, earlier in the year and now must rely on reaching the playoffs through a wild card spot.
The Redskins have Sequoyah and Kingston left on the schedule, with the latter being senior night for Loudon and a district game. The Redskins will head into Sequoyah Friday night for the Chiefs' senior night as well.
Since coming from behind to defeat Bradley Central on Sept. 25, the Redskins have won three more games consecutively with a total margin of victory currently sitting at 103-7. The only team to score on them was Scott County last week.
The two remaining teams on Loudon's schedule have a combined record of 4-12 this season. Over the past three meetings between Loudon and Sequoyah, the Chiefs have won twice - 21-20 and 35-0 - and the Redskins have won once - 43-7. The teams have scored the same amount of points combined in those three meetings.
Those contests, however, are from 2002-2004.
Game time against Sequoyah is set for 7:30 p.m. Friday night in Madisonville.
