Loudon youth take three of four from Polk County youth

In preparation for the upcoming playoffs, the Loudon Quarterback Club (LQC) took three of four games from Polk County Saturday afternoon at Benton.
Polk County 14, LQC Crickets 20 In the first game of the day, the Loudon Crickets jumped out to an early lead and held on for a 20-14 victory. Harley Cornett got the scoring started for Loudon as he scampered in from 54 yards out in the second quarter. Kyle Smallen added the conversion to send the teams to halftime with Loudon up 8-0. The hosts scored twice in the third to clinch the game. Noah Burnette tallied the first touchdown on a 64-yard run. The conversion attempt failed, but Loudon led 14-0. Smallen then punched in his own TD from four yards out to give Loudon a 20-point lead. Polk County scored once in the third and fourth quarters, but Loudon's defense held firm to the lead. Cornett led the way offensively with 138 yards rushing and a touchdown. Burnette led the defensive effort with 13 tackles and a fumble recovery. The Loudon Crickets will enter the playoffs as the fifth seed and will face off with Lenoir City in the first round of the playoffs. Game time is set for noon at Riceville.
Polk County 0, LQC Hoppers 26 The second game of the day was the only shuout, as the Loudon Hoppers defeated Polk County 26-0. Mason Small started off the scoring quickly, racing in for a 48-yard touchdown run. The conversion failed, but Loudon was on the board 6-0. Cameron Baker scored next for Loudon, as he took in a second quarter handoff for a six-yard TD. The conversion attempt again failed, leaving Loudon ahead 12-0 at the break. The Loudon defense struck next, as Baker picked off a pass and raced 66 yards for the touchdown. River Figard added the conversion to give Loudon a 20-0 advantage. Kaleb Aikens put the finishing touch on the strong day for the Hoppers in the fourth quarter, as he rushed in for a 54-yard touchdown. Small led the Loudon offense with 87 yards and a touchdown on 10 carries. Tyler Whitfield led the Loudon defense with seven tackles. The Loudon Hoppers will be the number four seed in the playoffs Saturday and they'll take on the Lenoir City Hoppers. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at Riceville.
Polk County 8, LQC Mustangs 38 The scoring came early and very often for the Loudon Mustangs in the third game, as Head Coach Tommy Clemmer pulled his starters in the first quarter in a 38-8 win over Polk County. Noah Lowe enjoyed a big day, scoring five touchdowns and rushing for 227 yards on six carries. He opened the scoring moments into the first quarter as he punched in a 14-yard TD. The conversion failed, leaving the score at 6-0. Less than a minute later, Lowe was in the end zone again, this time after racing 25 yards. The conversion again failed and Loudon's lead held at 12-0. A minute and a half lafter, Lowe broke free for a 45 yard TD, putting Loudon up 18-0 midway through the first quarter. Three minutes later Lowe added his fourth touchdown of the quarter, from 35 yards away. This time the conversion succeeded as Jacob Crabtree hit Layne Parks to make it 26-0 after the first quarter. Even after the reserves entered the game, Loudon was still able to find the end zone. Lowe scored one more time in the second, rushing in for a 79 yard score. The conversion failed, but Loudon led 32-8 at the break. Logan Seward rounded out Loudon's scoring with a four-yard TD late in the third quarter. Crabtree led the Loudon passing game, completing three of his four passes for 56 yards and a conversion. Dyllan Russell and Richie Trout led the Loudon defense with three tackles and a sack each. The Mustangs' strong regular season earned them a number one seed and a first round bye in the playoffs.
Polk County 44, LQC Indians 16 The fortunes reversed for the Loudon Indians in the fourth game of the day, as Polk County posted 20 points in the first quarter on its way to a 44-16 win. The Bobcats held a 20-0 advantage after the opening quarter and took a 38-16 lead to the break. Macklin Russell scored first for Loudon on a 17 yard run. He added his own conversion. Tyler Ferguson scored next, this time on a 64 yard scamper. Russell added the conversion to round out Loudon's scoring. Russell led the Loudon offense with 69 yards and a TD on 11 carries. Jack Nichols II led the Loudon defense with six tackles. The seventh seeded Loudon Indians will face off with South Knox in the first round of the playoffs Saturday. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m. at Central.
