The Lenoir City Youth Football Organization (LCYFO) closed out its regular season in strong fashion, sweeping Vonore at home in four games.
Vonore 0, LCYFO Crickets 22 The youngest Panther team set a good tone for the day, shutting out Vonore 22-0. Austin Steil began the Lenoir City offense with a 12 yard touchdown run on the hosts' first possession. Jake Dallas found paydirt on the next possession and Micah Bryant added the conversion to put Lenoir City up 14-0. Justin Womack sprinted in from 73 yards out just before halftime and Bryant added his second conversion to seal the final score. Tucker Yancey led the youngest squad with six tackles. The LC Crickets will enter the playoffs Saturday against Loudon's Crickets. Game time is set for noon at Riceville.
Vonore 0, LCYFO Hoppers 30 Needing a win to clinch a playoff berth, the Lenoir City Hoppers left no doubt in a 30-0 win over Vonore. Preston Adams led the hosting Hopper offense with 68 yards rushing, 26 yards receiving and a pair of touchdowns. Bryant Bingham led the way on the ground with 117 yards rushing and a touchdown, while Bailey Brockwell rushed for 58 yards and a score and Gabe Williams caught a 44-yard TD pass. Bingham led the defense with seven tackles as the Panthers allowed just 17 yards of total offense to the Vonore offense. The Hoppers will be back in action Saturday for the first round of the playoffs against Loudon's Hoppers. Game time is set for 1 p.m. at Riceville.
Vonore 14, LCYFO Cutters 30 The Lenoir City Cutters were the first LC team to allow points last week, but still cruised to a 30-14 win over Vonore in the third game of the day. The good play began quickly for Lenoir City as Joe Pace took the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown. Dylan Russell added the conversion and LC led 8-0. After stopping Vonore's offense, Cody Townson caught a 21-yard TD strike from Pace. The quarterback added his own conversion to put Lenoir City up 16-0. The Blue Devils finally put points on the board on the their next possession, but Russell answered quickly with a 72-yard kickoff return. Landon Sprunger added the conversion and the rout was on, 24-6. Vonore cut the gap to 24-14 by halftime, but Russell answered the score again right out of the break to secure the final tally. Townson led the LC defense with nine tackles. The Cutters earned a bye for the first round of the playoffs.
Vonore 0, LCYFO Juniors 12 The lowest scoring game of the day was the third shutout of the day, as the Lenoir City Juniors pulled out a 12-0 win. Despite the low-scoring finish, points came quickly as Jaylond Woods raced 78 yards to punch in a touchdown on Lenoir City's first play of the game. The next score was set up by the LC defense, as Eric Lawson picked off a pass at the Vonore 13 yard line. Chris Dubuisson scored three plays later to cement the final score. Lawson and Zack Johnson led the defense with six tackles each. Brett Phillips and Hayden Wiggins had a pair of sacks each as well. The LC Juniors will open their playoff run Saturday against Sweetwater. Game time is set for 10 a.m. at Sweetwater.
