The Lenoir City Panthers put a bit of a fright into Maryville Friday night, but could not prevail as the Rebels pulled out a 27-14 on Cecil Thomas Field.
Lenoir City scored two touchdowns in the final 12:32 to pull within 13 points of the Rebels, but the Rebels were able to hold off the late Panther charge.

The Rebels scored first with 9:02 to go in the first quarter on a 28-yard touchdown pass from Philip Juhlin to Clarence Langley.  Zach Sharp's point after was good, giving Maryville the 7-0 lead.
The Panthers got the ball on their own 28-yard line on their opening drive, but had to give it right back to Maryville after a three and out.  The Rebels came right back with another scoring drive.
The Maryville drive was capped off by a five-yard touchdown run by Jacob West.  Sharp's PAT was good, and the Rebels were up quickly, 14-0.

Lenoir City came back on its second drive with Cody Wright getting the call on offense.  He was called on three times for the carry and was able to pick up a first down.  The drive ended with two incompletions, however.
Maryville's ensuing drive started with a huge sack by the Panthers' Justin Muhlhauser and the Rebels were forced to punt.

The second quarter started with Lenoir City on offense, but the hosts were held to a three and out.
Maryville took its next drive from midfield and the Rebels were able to drive down to the seven-yard line.   They were pushed back by a false start infraction, but that didn't impede their ability to score.  Two plays later they were in the end zone again, this time it was West again from three yards out.  Sharp's extra point was good and the Rebels were up 21-0.

Lenoir City's offense still couldn't get anything going on its next possession and was forced to punt once again.

The Rebels slowed down a bit on the next drive, only collecting three points off a 31-yard field goal by Sharp.  However, Maryville was up 24-0 at the half.
The Panther defense stepped up in the second half, holding Maryville to two three and outs in the third.

That allowed the Lenoir City offense to come alive.  The Panthers got the ball at the Maryville 45-yard line.  Wright had a huge gain down to the 13, but a block in the back negated most of that.  The bright spot was they still collected a first down.  Tanner Wilson then took the ball from the 25 and picked up another first down at the Rebel six.  Wilson got the nod again and took the ball to pay dirt.
Daniel Cook's point after was good and the Panthers offense had started to churn as they cut the gap to 24-7.
The fourth quarter opened with another Maryville possession, but the drive ended in a 36 yard field goal by Sharp, making the score 27-7 Rebels.

The Lenoir City offense picked up where it left off with Hall finding Wilson for a first down.  It was a heavy dose of Wright and Wilson from there, as they ignited the Panthers offensive attack.
The tailback duo moved the ball most of the way to the end zone, but the score came on a second and seven play when Copeland West found Preston Craig in the end zone.  Cook's PAT was good and the Panthers closed the gap a little more at 27-14.

With 5:19 left to go, LC's Tyler Thomas came up with a key interception.  The Panthers took the ball and turned to Wright for yardage.  On third down, however, the Panthers turned to the air and Copeland West threw the ball into the end zone, but it was picked off by the Rebels.
With 3:43 Maryville took over on offense.  This trip wasn't pretty as the Rebels fumbled twice and the second time Daniel Pratt was there to recover for the Panthers.

Lenoir City had 1:57 to work with, needing to score twice.  Hall found Wes D'Ooge for the completion.
Then Wright carried the ball, but on both plays they had failed to pick up a first down, leaving them with two more tries.  On fourth and seven the Rebels sacked Hall, but there was a flag and an incidental facemask was called.

It was fourth and two now, but the Maryville defense came up with a huge stop, another quarterback sack.
Maryville got the ball back and lined up in victory formation.

Maryville had 348 yards of total offense.  Jones had nine carries for 45 yards and Juhlin finished the night seven of nine passing for 142 yards and a touchdown.
The Panthers had 185 yards of offense.  Wright had 11 carries for 50 yards and D'Ooge had three receptions for 17 yards.
