Lenoir City, Loudon youth teams split pair of playoff games

Loudon and Lenoir City renewed rivalries twice over the weekend as the Loudon Quarterback Club (LQC) and the Lenoir City Youth Football Organization (LCYFO) faced off in a pair of playoff games.
LQC Crickets 22, LCYFO Crickets 0 After Lenoir City had won both of the regular season matchups, it was the Loudon Crickets who emerged victorious in the playoff game as they shut out the LC Crickets 22-0. All of the scoring came early as Loudon jumped ahead 8-0 in the first quarter as Noah Burnette raced in for a 35-yard touchdown and Harley Cornett added the conversion. Loudon scored twice more in the second quarter with Burnette finding the end zone again from 60 yards out. Kyle Smallen added the conversion to put the LQC Crickets up 16-0. Burnette added one more touchdown with 23 seconds left in the half as he scampered in from 61 yards away.
Justin Womack led the Panthers with 60 yards on the ground and was named LC's offensive MVP. Tucker Yancey earned defensive MVP honors with five tackles. Burnette was named Loudon's offensive MVP as he led the team with 173 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Michael Goff recorded five tackles to earn defensive MVP honors. The Loudon Crickets will continue their playoff run Saturday at Madisonville against Riceville at 11 a.m.
LCYFO Hoppers 14, LQC Hoppers 12 Lenoir City got revenge in the second game between the teams, as Bryant Bingham rolled up 181 yards rushing, two touchdowns and a conversion as the LC Hoppers won 14-12. Mason Small scored first for Loudon, rushing in from 67 yards out. The Loudon Hoppers' second score came with 3:15 left in the game when Small hit Dawson Blankinship for a 51 yard touchdown. Bingham was named LC's offensive MVP and Tyler Clemmer earned defensive MVP honors as he recorded six tackles and a sack. Small rushed for 139 yards and a touchdown and threw for 51 yards on his lone completion. Jeremy Wiggins and River Figard shared MVP honors, as Figard recorded 11 tackles and Wiggins tacked on eight.
The LC Hoppers will face Sweetwater Saturday at Madisonville.
